UPDATED May 17, 2021 (Berlin, Maryland)— We have learned and experienced much together as a community over the past 15 months. We want to take this opportunity to thank each and every family and guest we have served for your patience, cooperation, and understanding as we have navigated a challenge like no other in COVID-19. While we are not “Out of the woods” yet, we are excited for the steps, recommendations, and guidance provided by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the Maryland Department of Health, and Governor Larry Hogan.

Based upon recent updates from these Federal and State officials, families and guests may notice the following changes for Eastern Shore Cremation & Funeral Service:

  • Masks will no longer be required while attending services or visiting our offices.
  • Our staff will have masks readily available for any guests who prefer to interact with us utilizing a mask. Please just inform us and we will happily utilize a mask.
  • Eastern Shore Cremation & Funeral Service staff members have all received at least 1 dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Eastern Shore Cremation & Funeral Service’s Response to COVID-19

UPDATED March 12, 2021 (Berlin, Maryland)— Eastern Shore Cremation & Funeral Service’s priority is the safety, well-being and health of our community, families and their guests, and caring professional staff. We are actively monitoring the COVID-19 situation to ensure a safe place for the families we serve and our caring professional staff. We are taking proactive measures to prevent the spread of any illnesses.

The information provided here represents our current response based on information available to us by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), Maryland State Department of Health (MDH), and National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA).

Eastern Shore Cremation & Funeral Service is strictly following social distancing and face covering requirements for all events, locations and interactions, as recommended by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). Attendance to services and visitations within our facility will be limited to 15 guests.

Additionally, the following measures are in place:

  • Place of death response, residential or institution. Upon notification of a death occurring, we will maintain our most expedited response unless otherwise instructed by us or the facility where the death occurred.
  • Arrangement consultations. We are asking families to limit attendance to a maximum of 4 family members. Alternatively, our funeral directors and pre-planning advisors have technology to initiate and complete arrangements over the phone, reducing in person consultation time.
  • Visitations and funerals. Our facility is available for public or private use. Mask usage and social distancing will be required. Accessibility and monitoring attendance will be discussed with each family.
  • Attendance guidelines. We are following current CDC and MDH regarding number of attendees at any event. To facilitate social distancing at our services, we are restricting attendance to 15 guests within our facility.
  • We are staggering on-site gatherings. We will not have back-to-back or multiple services happening in one location at a time to avoid large gatherings.
  • Technology capabilities. We have online arrangement collaboration, service selection options, merchandise selection, obituary writing, death certificate completion and confirmation identification viewing. We also have web conferencing capabilities available.
  • Our location will follow increased infection prevention and control precautions, per CDC/OSHA guidelines. While cleanliness and safety are always a top priority, we have increased our public and workspace sanitation schedules and frequency. This includes disinfecting after each service and periodically throughout services with high-touch surfaces and writing utensils.
  • All employees are instructed to stay home in the event of illness. In addition to team members being vaccinated as part of Group 1A, we have encouraged team members to remain at home if they feel unwell.
  • We ask all families and individuals to assess their own health before visiting one of our facilities or attending a funeral.
  • Off-site guidelines. We have contacted area churches and facilities to understand their guidelines and restrictions for private events. Please contact us for further information.
  • Cemetery guidelines. We have contacted area cemeteries to understand their guidelines and restrictions for events. Please contact us for further information.
  • Share online condolences. Even if guests cannot attend services in-person, they may still show support by leaving a message on your loved one’s online guestbook. To do so, navigate to www.EasternShoreCremation.com.
  • Send flowers. Consider sending flowers to either the funeral home holding services or directly to a family member’s home.

Eastern Shore Cremation & Funeral Service will continue to keep you informed and these guidelines are subject to updates or changes.

We are here to assist families 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
